On October 12, the XPeng G9L officially launched in Europe at the Paris auto show, where multi-country pricing was announced, with Germany's 74,600-euro starting price the lowest of the whole lineup and other markets in a similar band, putting the European entry price at nearly double the top Chinese trim and level with the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.
Europe gets only the pure-electric version, built at a plant in Graz, Austria, while the Chinese version comes from a Guangzhou factory.
The model carries the second-generation XPeng NGP VLA and a long list of intelligent, luxury, performance and charging features, with deliveries to follow across more than 60 countries and regions. XPeng's overseas sales topped 20,000 units for the first time in the second quarter, up 81 percent year on year, with overseas revenue passing 25 percent of the total.
France starts at 74,990 euros, Germany at 74,600 euros for the lowest of the entire lineup, the Netherlands at 76,990 euros, Belgium at 74,990 euros, Austria at 75,600 euros, Norway at 749,900 Norwegian kroner, Denmark at 639,995 Danish kroner and Sweden at 849,900 Swedish kronor.
At an exchange rate of 7.4799 yuan per euro, Germany's starting price works out to about 558,000 yuan (about $83,360) and the Netherlands about 576,000 yuan (about $86,050), while the G9L's Chinese limited-time price runs from 231,800 to 309,800 yuan (about $34,630 to $46,280), making the European entry price nearly double the top Chinese trim and putting it at the same table as the BMW X3 and Mercedes GLC.
Europe currently gets only the pure-electric version, built in Graz, Austria, while the Chinese version is made in Guangzhou.
Against same-class rivals in local markets, intelligence is the G9L's headline selling point in Europe, since the car debuts XPeng's second-generation NGP VLA, which accurately reads the differing road sign systems of each country and even understands the unwritten rules local drivers rely on.
For Europe's narrow streets, the system renders 3D images of small obstacles in real time and supports complex parking and remote parking. On the ecosystem side, XPeng's partnership with Google has deepened again, adding Google Play alongside Google Maps, giving the in-car ecosystem more than 500 native apps that keep expanding without an OTA update.
Luxury equipment is equally stacked, with a body over 5.1 meters (about 16.7 feet) long and a 3.1-meter (about 10.2-foot) wheelbase, DLP pixel headlights, smart electric doors, retractable electric side steps and a welcome light carpet, seats described as the AI adaptive seats with the most adjustment hardware in the world, plus RNC active road noise cancellation and 270-degree three-sided electric sunshades.
On comfort, there is a 12.5-liter dual-zone smart fridge with active antibacterial and cooling functions, a 21.4-inch 3K entertainment screen, 23 speakers, and a dedicated kids' cabin plus a 6D anti-motion-sickness feature.
For performance, the G9L's dual-motor all-wheel drive makes a maximum 530 kW (about 711 hp) and 695 Nm (about 513 lb-ft) of torque, hitting 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds with a 100 km/h to zero braking distance of 35.1 meters (about 115 feet), and its acceleration loses less than a second when the battery drops below 10 percent.
Active rear-wheel steering is standard across the range, with a 5.5-meter (about 18-foot) turning radius that XPeng says makes U-turns easy even in old European towns. For charging, it uses an 800V architecture with 5C ultra-fast charging, going from 10 to 80 percent in just 11.7 minutes.
On the chassis, the car has dual-chamber air suspension and DCC adaptive dampers, a maximum ground clearance of 216 mm (about 8.5 inches) and a maximum wading depth of 700 mm (about 27.6 inches), and it can run stably in force-12 winds, positioning itself around all-scenario, all-road outdoor exploration.
On sales, XPeng's overseas volume topped 20,000 units for the first time in the second quarter, up 81 percent year on year, with overseas revenue passing 25 percent of the total and an average overseas selling price above 40,000 euros. By plan, the G9L will then be delivered progressively across more than 60 countries and regions.
