Tesla China gives totaled-car owners $120 off a new Tesla, no matter the brand

Tesla China has rolled out a special care program for buyers whose previous car was totaled, offering 800 yuan (about $120) off the balance of a new Model S, Model 3, Model X or Model Y for orders placed before September 30, and unlike most perks, this one comes with no brand restrictions on the wreck.
The fine print requires the new car and the totaled car to be registered under the same owner and the total loss to be paid out by a designated partner insurer, so whether the last car was a Toyota, a BMW or a Wuling, the 800 yuan, roughly 0.3 percent of a Tesla's sticker price, is yours.
Tesla's poster essentially says to start again with a better car, and the comedy value of one of the world's most valuable automakers comforting crash survivors with about $120 is hard to beat, a gesture that barely covers a few dozen Supercharging sessions but earns full marks for absurdity, and it guarantees nobody can accuse Tesla China of being too generous with discounts.
