Luxeed RX Pre-Sale Opens at $44,500: a Ferrari Purosangue Lookalike With an AMG-Tuned Chassis

The Luxeed RX is the first HIMA SUV to carry an X badge, offered in four trims with pre-sale pricing of RMB 299,800 to 399,800 ($44,500 to $59,300).

The version with an in-cabin co-optical-path lidar starts at $44,500, while the variant built on an L3 autonomous driving architecture starts at $53,400, and early orders come with up to $1,500 in perks. Show cars have already reached dealers, a public debut follows at the Chengdu auto show, and sales begin this autumn.

The design is the headline. Penned by Werner Gruber, a former senior exterior designer at Ferrari, the RX wears a wide, low-slung stance with bulging fenders that reads unmistakably Purosangue.

Its LED headlights illuminate row by row on approach, and a first-of-its-kind nano-scale biomimetic paint shifts color with the light. At 197.6 inches long (5,020 mm) on a 118.1-inch (3,000 mm) wheelbase, it sits half a size above the Xiaomi YU7 it targets.

The chassis pedigree is just as loud. Built on Huawei's Tuling platform with a new high-performance e-drive, the RX gets all-aluminum double-wishbone and five-link suspension, dual-chamber air springs, dual-valve dampers, and a near 50:50 weight balance, with tuning input from a team led by Tobias Moers, the former head of AMG.

Torsional rigidity tops 50,000 Nm per degree. Every version runs an 800V architecture, with a 371 hp single motor or a 585 hp dual-motor setup and up to 529 miles (852 km) of CLTC range. A 38-sensor suite includes an 896-line image-grade lidar plus three solid-state units, with L3 hardware baked in.

A few caveats deserve air. The L3 badge refers to pre-installed architecture, not hands-off capability at delivery. The Purosangue resemblance has already drawn fire, with Ferrari publicly disputing earlier claims about the designer's role, and the RX name happens to belong to a certain Lexus.

The entry price also lands about $7,400 above Luxeed's own R7 and clear of the YU7. A car borrowing a Ferrari face and an AMG hand is a bold cocktail, and autumn sales will show how many buyers want a sip.
