Half-Price Model 3 Sells Out Fast: SAIC's MG 07 Locks 10,000 Orders in 1 Minute 57 Seconds

SAIC MG released an official sales flash on August 21, announcing that the all-new MG 07 crossed 10,000 firm orders only 1 minute and 57 seconds after going on sale.
For comparison, the MG4 previously set the brand's 10,000-order record at 39 minutes and 37 seconds. The MG 07 compressed that achievement by a factor of twenty, which says plenty about the demand.
The MG 07 launched today at the Chengdu auto show with limited-time subsidized pricing of RMB 105,900 to 156,900 ($15,700 to $23,300), offered in both hybrid and fully electric versions across seven trims.
At 192.4 inches long (4,886 mm) on a 111.2-inch (2,825 mm) wheelbase, the car matches the Tesla Model 3 on size, yet its entry price comes in at less than half of the Tesla, effectively a half-price Model 3.
The instant sellout is not just about pricing. Frameless doors, a five-position power rear wing and 19-inch wheels give it genuine coupe appeal for younger buyers, while a 5.9-cubic-foot (168 L) front trunk plus a 24.6-cubic-foot (697 L) rear trunk make it practical too.
The cabin continues MG's load-it-up philosophy, with a zero-gravity passenger seat, ventilation, heating and massage across the cabin, a 21-speaker 7.1.4-channel audio system, and a 30-liter dual-zone cooler hidden in the trunk.
Driver assistance is another headline. The MG 07 runs Momenta's R7 system with urban and highway NOA, nine parking scenarios and 25 active safety functions, and the lidar-equipped version brings advanced driving assistance down to just over $16,300.
On the electric side, buyers choose between 235 hp (175 kW) and 315 hp (235 kW) outputs, with the quickest version reaching 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. Battery options are a 67 kWh semi-solid-state pack and a 91 kWh NMC unit, delivering CLTC ranges of 379 miles (610 km), 404 miles (650 km) and up to 525 miles (845 km). The NMC models ride on an 800V architecture with 5C fast charging, and every trim gets 6.6 kW vehicle-to-load output.
The hybrid version pairs an 82 kW 1.5-liter engine with a 152 kW drive motor, offering 152 miles (245 km) of electric-only CLTC range, fuel consumption of 80.8 MPG (2.91 L/100 km) with a depleted battery, and up to 1,084 miles (1,745 km) of combined range.
Crossing 10,000 orders in under two minutes shows the price war in China's budget coupe-sedan segment has entered a new phase. With semi-solid-state batteries and a dual-powertrain strategy, the MG 07 now puts the pressure squarely on the Deepal SL03 and BYD Qin L EV.
