CATL Mall Launches: the World's Biggest Battery Maker Now Sells Cells Like Amazon

CATL announced on August 21 that its B2B direct-sales platform, the CATL Mall, is now live on both its official website and a WeChat mini program, built specifically for small and mid-sized energy storage integrators.

CATL MallIndividuals cannot place orders, as business registration and qualification checks are required. More than 1,800 enterprise customers have already signed up, with integrators like SCUD and Kuaibu among the first buyers.

The problem being solved is real. CATL has historically served gigawatt-hour-scale contracts, with capacity and scheduling tilted toward major clients. Smaller integrators could not buy factory-direct and had to work through layers of distributors, paying markups while risking refurbished, counterfeit or salvaged cells, with offline procurement cycles typically running 45 to 60 days.

The mall cuts the minimum order to three boxes, about 600 cells or 600 kWh, enough for prototypes, pilot projects and small commercial jobs. On sale now are the mainstream 280Ah and 314Ah LFP storage cells, the former rated for 8,000 cycles and over ten years of life, the latter packing exactly one kilowatt-hour per cell.

A larger 587Ah cell, battery cabinets and EnerD-series containers are listed but not yet on sale. In-stock orders ship in three to five days, every cell carries a traceable factory code, small orders get the same five-year warranty as major clients, and first orders take 2% off.

The storefront matters less than the strategy underneath. CATL's domestic EV battery share has slid from a 52% peak in 2021 to around 40% last year, making energy storage its second growth engine with close to 40% global share.

The mall turns fragmented small orders into direct revenue and diversifies the customer base away from a handful of giants. The losers are the distributors who lived off information asymmetry, who must now pivot to system design and maintenance services or exit.

EVE and Gotion have tried online inquiry tools before without closing the full loop, and if CATL proves the model, the entire storage-cell distribution map gets redrawn. When the world's biggest battery maker starts selling cells like consumer goods, the industry has already changed.
