The Formula S and Formula S GT are the first sedans from Fang Cheng Bao, BYD's personalization brand, and they launched on September 16 at 189,900 to 229,900 yuan, or about $28,080 to $34,000. The shooting-brake GT spans 219,900 to 239,900 yuan, roughly $32,500 to $35,500. Both land well below the 230,000 to 280,000 yuan pre-sale range, a cut of about 17 percent at the entry level.
Range tops out at 900 km (559 miles) on the CLTC cycle in the long-range rear-drive Formula S, which pairs a 92.093 kWh second-generation Blade Battery with flash charging. The base rear-drive car runs a 76.744 kWh pack good for 730 km (454 miles), all-wheel-drive versions manage 750 km (466 miles), and the GT covers 850 km (528 miles) in rear-drive form. Charging takes 5 minutes from 10 to 70 percent and 9 minutes from 10 to 97 percent. Rear-drive models make 245 kW or 300 kW, AWD versions combine for 490 kW and reach 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, about 3.4 seconds to 60 mph.
The headline feature is the DiSus-M magnetorheological suspension, a first for the brand. It uses magnetorheological fluid to vary damping in under a millisecond, up to 1,000 times per second, across a range from 100 to 10,000 N with independent control at each wheel, plus road preview and over-the-air tuning updates.
Fang Cheng Bao markets it as the same technology used in the Ferrari 296 GTB, and magnetorheological dampers have long been a premium performance-car feature. Buyers can pick DiSus-A, a dual-chamber air setup with adaptive dampers, at the same price as a DiSus-M car with matching power and range, while the entry version uses DiSus-C.
Driver assistance comes from the lidar-equipped God's Eye B system with highway and city navigation assist plus automated parking. The cabin adds a 26-inch augmented-reality head-up display, a 20-speaker Devialet audio system, zero-gravity seats, a fridge, and a modular mounting ecosystem. The car rides on a 2,960 mm (116.5 inch) wheelbase, the Formula S measures 5,060 mm in length, and drag coefficients land at 0.22 for the sedan and 0.25 for the GT.
The line takes Fang Cheng Bao beyond the off-road Bao series and the urban Tai series and drops it into a fight with the Xiaomi SU7 and Tesla Model 3 at a lower entry price. The brand sold 41,568 vehicles in August, up 156 percent year over year, and 242,255 in the first eight months, up 166 percent and already ahead of its full 2025 total. Fang Cheng Bao is late to the sedan party, but a 900 km range claim and a chassis trick borrowed from supercars give it an angle its rivals do not have.
