A Chinese supercar that will never be built, free for players worldwide, Xiaomi's Vision GT hits GT7 tomorrow

Gran Turismo 7 producer Kazunori Yamauchi revealed on social media today that GT7 will get the first part of its Spec IV update tomorrow, October 15, with the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo joining as a new car, meaning players worldwide will drive a Chinese concept supercar on a virtual track for the first time.

The Vision Gran Turismo program began in 2013 as an invitation-only project, open only to global automakers with proven performance and technical credentials.

By early 2026 the program had hosted 36 brands and 51 concept cars, with Xiaomi the 36th brand to join, the first Chinese brand ever invited and the first company to take part as a tech company rather than an automaker.

Xiaomi's SU7 Ultra had already joined in January 2026 as the first Chinese production car in the GT series, so in under a year Xiaomi has landed all three layers on the platform, a production car, a concept car and an EV driving tutorial.

Xiaomi says clearly that the Vision GT is a concept built specifically for the GT platform and will not be produced, which frees its specs from production regulations, engineering costs and safety certification, giving the design team an exponentially wider range.

Data Xiaomi China released on October 3 at the GT World Series event in Singapore shows the car is built on a 900V silicon carbide high-voltage platform with four-motor all-wheel drive, about 1,360 hp of combined output, a 0 to 100 km/h time in the one-second range, a top speed above 350 km/h (about 217 mph), a track-grade battery with full-domain thermal management, and 10-minute fast charging that adds 500 km (about 311 miles) of range.

On design, Xiaomi sums up its approach as shaped by the wind, and chief designer Li Tianyuan says the team avoided bolt-on aerodynamic kits, instead making almost every surface do an aerodynamic job.

The cabin is shaped as a floating teardrop, letting air pass over the roof and under the body through a channel that runs the length of the car, while the cross-shaped headlights also guide airflow and the ring-shaped tail lights double as air outlets working with an active wake control system. The wheel covers use a magnetic levitation structure, staying relatively still as the car moves to cut drag and help cool the brakes.

Xiaomi quotes a drag coefficient of 0.29, an aerodynamic efficiency figure of 4.1 and about 1.2 tonnes (roughly 2,646 pounds) of downforce at high speed.

Yamauchi has said the Vision GT stays very fast and extremely stable at the same time in the game, describing the experience as incredibly smooth, and calling the design simple yet possessed of an indescribably sexy curve that makes it a model for this era.

The first part of the Spec IV update also adds the Sportsland SUGO track and six new cars, the Xiaomi Vision Gran Turismo, the Citroën 2CV 6 Charleston, the Ferrari F355 Berlinetta, the Honda Civic Si Group A, the Honda Step WGN Spada and the Mazda RX-VISION GT3 EVO, with players free to run them at Nürburgring, Le Mans, Suzuka and other tracks.

GT's first driving tutorial module dedicated to electric vehicles also arrives, letting players use the SU7 Ultra and Vision GT to complete training tasks and get familiar with how EVs behave in acceleration, braking and regenerative energy recovery.
